WHY AM I UNEMPLOYED AS A CHRISTIAN?

Unemployment could be very frustrating and overwhelming sometimes. Most a times as a Christian who has always been faithful in your Christian service, you assume that unemployment shouldn't be an issue for you. Yes you are right because the bible says, the earth is of the Lord and the fullness there-off; the world, and they that dwell therein (Psalm 24:1).

Given this assertion, one can conclude that all jobs and the work on earth is God's and he can give it to whoever he want, so by right as his son, you are not suppose to wandered about because of job (John 1:12).  By this time another scripture flashes your head, but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you(Mathew 6:33). What are the things that shall be added to you? The things the Gentiles seek like, employment, cars, good security, money among others shall be added to you without you seeking it. Mathew 6:32.

The question then is should a Christian fold his hand, think less and explore less because he doesn't want to seek the worldly things. No! The passage is telling us not to get anxious of it, and never to Prioritize it above God's kingdom advancement endeavour.

The truth of the matter is that God never wish for any to suffer unemployment and frustration. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11) and employment is your expected end in this case.   That is true my dear, God made it clear that he will bless the works of our hand. If you are unemployed can he bless your idleness? No!

I know by now you might be saying in your mind, all these I know and many others what is now the problem? I have served God faithfully amidst all persecution, and yet nothing is happening; my friends who are never faithful in serving are even getting good paid job. Is my own different?

Some things are like that in life: we can’t understand until we become—we can’t truly know from a distance the crippling feeling of inadequacy that comes with repeated failures to find fulfilling work. Nor can we experience the overwhelming peace from knowing that God is writing a story in our lives that is bigger and more glorious than our professions or our degrees.

You need to look inward to know what God is really telling you. God have a better plan for you than where you are looking at. God might be telling you my son you have served me well let me give you greater assignment.

Seriously, at the time of your unemployment you should devote time to think, think about your passion, think about your skills, he might want you to pursue your ministry to impact the world. God knew you might be distracted with that job you are looking for and get deviated from your purpose on earth. Remember life does  not consist of the abundance of wealth you accumulate but on the fulfillment you get in what you do.

Why not approach him in prayer, say father what actually do want from me, what is it that you want me to know that I have not known? God says, Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). His perfect will is to lead you to your place of success in life. Isaiah 48:17,,,,,,, I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

And when you pray, look around you for opportunities, explore them and God will bless your little beginnings. Think of problems in the society you can solve, find means of meeting those societal needs and you will forget paid employment. Mind you, you can't access to people's money, until you solve their problems. The society is full of problems waiting to be solved, brain storm and God working through you will give you wisdom to be solution provider. Remember also, the bible says, the soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich(Proverbs 13:4). Proverbs 22:29Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.

SOME SCRIPTURE TO PONDER ON

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:2-4).
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope(Romans 5:3-4).
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose (Roman 8:28).
Pray that God should fertilize your heart with wealth generating ideas, giving you wisdom to solve societal needs and power to fulfill your purpose on earth.
