DEALING WITH LAZINESS AS A CHRISTIAN

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich (Proverbs 13:4).

Laziness is very prominent among Christian this days, and that makes me to wonder who they resemble? God our father is a hard working God, the bible says, behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither sleep nor slumber (psalm 121:4). So if God is neither sleeping nor slumbering at all time that means, he is working always. Jesus collaborate this fact,,,,, my father worketh hitherto, and I work(John 5:17). So God is working and Jesus is working, who do you resemble?

Acts 17:28 says, for in him we have life, and motion, and our existence; as certain of your verse writers have said,  for we are his offspring(BBV). We are God almighty offspring have all his qualities (creative, working, holiness among others) imbedded  in us, it just need to grow and be nurtured to development. Psalm 82:6 says, I said, you are gods; all of you are the sons of the Most High,, BBV.  You see we are all gods by the nature of our creation and have the working being of God in us.

Now that you understand that by nature you are not suppose to be lazy, what next? Stop giving excuse of waiting on God or in the habit of intending to. All over scripture we’re told to wait on God, and rightly so. The problem comes when people expect God to live for them– rather than to work through them. This days people are waiting for thus says the Lord! Ignoring his gentle voice and their life is marked by a lack of action, motivation, and responsibility, all in the name of waiting and intending to.

We are called to take action, to make decision, to live our lives, and to do what it takes to get ourselves where he wants us to be. Our connection with God is a two-way path, and like it or not: we have a role in this relationship. We have a choice and a will. And with that will we can either say yes, or no to certain things.  Don’t allow your fears, insecurities, and inadequacies to paralyze you in the name of false “faith.” Real faith is alive and active. Real faith takes responsibility and moves forward. In fact real faith is action oriented says James 2:26,  for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME LAZINESS

Overcome Your Fear

The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!” Proverbs 26:13

The fear of failure has kept many unemployed for years. Many of us fear unnecessary things, which is not suppose to be. for instance, a salesman might find it hard to sit down and make sale calls, for fear of rejections. A unemployed person might dread taking actions to look for work for fear of landing in an abusive work environment, or fear of working hard to make someone rich. A talented musician might have the fear of not been accepted by the audience, of making blunders, thereby never giving a trial. A man with mind blowing idea, might have the fear of how to raise finance, of not succeeding, so many fear!

When you create fears, you are at the same time conditioning yourself to avoid the fears you created. Whether you are doing it consciously or not. While you and I are surely not as stupid as the “lazy man” as is depicted in the bible, who made up a lion in his head, you and I could make up a lot of fears in our minds.

Make adequate preparation

Seeth that man who is diligent in his work, he will stand before kings, he will stand before mean men(Proverb 22:29)

If you are not too skillful in your chosen profession, go and get more knowledge and trainings that will give you edge. Hosea 4:6 "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,,,,,,. The truth of the matter is that most lazy people don't  have any skill and are not ready to acquire one. For you to have an edge and for your service to be required you need more skills. Engage your mind, think of what is causing your laziness, research on how to overcome it. Study the societal needs think of how to solve same.

STOP EATING HEAVY MEALS AND SLEEPING

For drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. Proverbs 23:21

Check it anytime you eat you feel like you want to sleep, so over feeding  yourself automatically lead to drowsiness. Heavy meals decrease energy. Also on the anti-energy list are greasy, sugary, dairy, and junk food in general. Sugar and caffeine filled food or beverage make you hyper, but reduce attention span and focus. Thou, it might make you awake but will reduce your focus. Avoid heavy meal in the night or tea except green tea; this will make you less productive.

Instead, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, this gives stable energy and nutrients to the body, and cleanse the body of toxins that come from the environment and standard diets. The truth of the matter is that the more you eat more of fruit the more alive and productive you will be. Remember, we don't live to eat but we eat to live. So eat just enough food to keep you alive, the more food you jam-packed into your system, the more work you give to your digestive system. As a more busy vehicle will tend to break than more often so do more bust digestive system will break than often compared to the other.

STOP GIVING EXCUSES

The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”   Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not literate Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men  14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” Isaiah 29:11-14 NKJV

Seriously, many of us don't accept  responsibility of not doing much, why sit down there complaining always of how life has been unfair to you, and no one seems caring? Stop complaining of your problem, rather think of how to solve it. No one is responsible for your problem, not even your father or mother death as some may claim. Some people will always be looking for excuses not to work; day dream all around and sit in one place wishing if heaven is earth then things will be better. Now that we all know that heaven is not  earth and can never be earth let look for what we can do here on earth.

MIND YOUR BUSINESS

Mathew 7:5, thou hypocrites, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Some Christian can use all their precious time to meddle and gossip others. If you meddle in other people’s affair or gossip, then you probably have too little responsibilities of your own and are being too idle. Meddling Christians bring so much trouble to the church. They create stress for the real producers, leak secrets to third party, and throw accusations at others.

Gossipers has no clear job description, but love to throw advice at everybody, especially at the authorities and the real servants of the church who do real work with sweat and love. Meddlers (Busybodies who are actually idle) regard themselves highly. (Proverbs 26:16)

They also respond bitterly when they think their advice is not heeded. This is why they are often the originators of gossips! They feel bitter at people who don’t seem to follow their advice and complain to others about it. They use secret information they coveted through all kind of means as evidences to convince a third party who is not involved with the issue (Saikit).

Pray now: Lord Jesus help me to overcome my fear and give me grace to be diligent in my work. Lord fertilize my heart with wealth generating ideas. Thank you Lord for you hear me.
